The following policies have been enacted by The International Misophonia Foundation to help clarify our organization’s policies.
1. As an organization we believe that misophonia is a real disorder that should be researched, accommodated, and recognized.
2. As an organization we are not affiliated with any political party, group, religion, ethnicity or cause outside of advocacy for misophonia. We hold the belief that advocacy for a health condition (whether mental, neurophysiological or otherwise) should not be based on any identity, and advocacy is for everyone.
3. As an organization we believe in ethical science and truth above all, we advocate for information that has been validated by scientific rigor and studies. However, we also believe that scientific research must be to the benefit of the community being researched.
4. As an organization, we are committed to providing education and coping skills for misophonia that are oriented with the values of the community, and we do not endorse exposure therapy whatsoever.
5. As an organization we will not tolerate any communication on our social media, chats, or website comments that are hateful or unkind to one another—regardless of the parties involved.
6. As an organization we believe in respect and dignity for all volunteers, contractors, board members, staff, or community members. This includes fair compensation for work provided to the foundation by service providers.
7. As any organization we believe in data privacy and take all reasonable measures to protect your data when you purchase items, download free resources, or interact with our websites. We never sell your data, and maintain security measures like SSL encryption, Recaptcha, and fraud detection.
